As someone who lives in Alexandria, I’ve gotten around the different metro stops and know the area well! This list is organized by metro stop, starting with the most luxury and moving to budget options. I also include the distance to the train station to help you plan!

About the Metro Stops in Alexandria
Alexandria has five different metro stops. The most well-known stop is King St. Old Town Metrorail station, but Alexandria is served by four other stations: Potomac Yard, Braddock Road, Eisenhower Ave, and Van Dorn Street.
It’s located on the blue and yellow lines of the metro, making it an ideal location for heading to the top locations for a DC trip like the National Mall, Smithsonian, Chinatown, and U Street.
King Street-Old Town is also a stop for Amtrak so if you’re taking a train to get to DC or between cities on your trip, this area is also convenient!
I used to live right by Eisenhower metro station, so I am very familiar with Alexandria and think it makes a great spot for your stay in DC! Alexandria is worth a weekend trip of its own so I’m excited to share some of my favorite hotels in Alexandria, VA, near metro stops with you!
Hotels Near King Street-Old Town Metro Station
The Old Town area is a great location to stay for visitors looking for charm and the opportunity to see some non-traditional DC sites. It is very walkable, well-connected to DC by public transportation, and convenient to Reagan National Airport, so if you are not driving, this location is ideal.
King Street-Old Town is also a stop for Amtrak so if you’re taking a train to get to DC or between cities on your trip, this area is also convenient as well.
One thing to note is that it’s about a 30-minute walk from the metro to the waterfront. However, the shops, dining, and charm of Old Town start far before the waterfront, and there’s a free trolly that goes all the way from the metro down King Street.
With that said, any hotel could be considered “close” to the metro in Old Town, but I’ve kept this list to hotels within a 15 minute walk.

It is intimate and relaxed, with a space that feels casual, yet sophisticated. They have memorable comforts like an in-room fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows, and sofas in the rooms. Staying true to the spirit of Alexandria, Morrison House is a quiet haven that perfectly mingles the old with the new.
Find refreshing luxury at the Lorien; it’s the only hotel and spa in Old Town Alexandria. This is a history-enveloped hideaway where it’s easy to disconnect from the everyday. You’ll find yourself settling into a carefree routine of relaxation in the refined comfort of their dreamy guest rooms and standout suites made for slow mornings and sleep-ins.
This hotel features colonial charm with state-of-the-art facilities and services. Hilton Alexandria Old Town is next to the King Street Metro and Amtrak train station for easy travel to several points of interest. The George Washington Masonic Temple, Arlington National Cemetery, the Spy Museum are just a short ride away.
This is the closest hotel to the King Street-Old Town Metro station on the list. It’s location is right next to the metro, and it’s visible from many of the rooms.

Each room here will provide you with a comfortable stay. Complete with a microwave, the dining area also has a refrigerator. This hotel does not have parking, but it is known for its friendly staff and is really close to the metro, making it convenient for anyone who may have flown into Reagan National Airport.
Hotels in Alexandria near Eisenhower Metro Station
All three of these options are on the budget-friendly side, with rates as low as $80 a night during off-peak times like December. Eisenhower Station is near Carlyle which is a business district of Alexandria with the National Science Foundation and other major organizations with offices there.
Plenty of cheap eats are available nearby, and you’ll find lots of locals living in high-rise apartments here. It has a much different feel than Old Town.

The Holiday Inn Alexandria at Carlyle is just one block from the metro, making it the closest hotel to Eisenhower Metro Station. It is also convenient for anyone driving to DC because it has free parking and is right off Interstate 495 Capital Beltway.
Featuring relaxed decor, the homey rooms offer free Wi-Fi and cable TV, as well as minifridges, microwaves, and desks. Upgraded rooms add sitting areas. Kids age 18 and under stay for no extra charge with an adult.
Residence Inn Alexandria Old Town South at Carlyle
.3 miles, 7 minute walk
This Residence Inn is in the Carlyle neighborhood, providing easy access to the Eisenhower Metro and Old Town. The Residence Inn Alexandria Old Town South at Carlyle Hotel features large, cozy rooms with separate living, working, and sleeping areas. The kitchens include a stove, dishwasher, and a conventional oven. All the necessary silverware, pots, and pans are available.
This hotel is convenient for families or travelers who may want to cook some of their own meals while traveling here. Whole Foods is just down the street from this hotel and the rooms with kitchen supplies make it easy!
.4 miles, 10 minute walk – both King Street and Eisenhower Ave.

Hotels Near Braddock Road Metro
Braddock Road Metro is in Old Town North. Situated north of Oronoco Street between the east side of N. Washington Street and the Potomac River waterfront. The burgeoning arts and cultural district is home to an influx of new dining destinations, plus virtual and performing arts spaces.
By staying in this area, you’re about a 10 minute walk from King Street which is the most popular part of Old Town for shops and dining, although staying in Old Town North you’ll have plenty of options!
