As a local, I’ve had the opportunity to see so many gorgeous hotels and hear from visitors about their experience. I am finally ready to compile this list of unique hotels with a view in DC for you. I’d recommend these hotels to any friend or family visiting DC who may need a unique and cool place to stay. Below are 16 places to stay with a view in Washington, DC.

For this post, they are listed in price order from most expensive to least expensive. I also share the type of view each hotel has, from water to city to monuments. Everything from five-star to more budget-friendly hotels are on this list!

Luxury Hotels

 

With its iconic smokestack dominating the neighborhood skyline, The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown, Washington, DC, is one of the most distinctive hotels in Georgetown. This historic hotel in Washington, DC, today incorporates the renovation of a turn-of-the-century industrial building erected in 1932 and serves as an integral part of the Georgetown cityscape.

The stateliness of Pennsylvania Avenue is on full view from the south-facing windows of this historic grande dame, with the Washington Monument rising beyond.

The Willard has a rich history dating back to its opening in 1818. Over the years, it has hosted numerous notable figures, including Abraham Lincoln, who stayed at the hotel before his inauguration. The hotel has played a significant role in the city’s history and politics.

Monuments/city view

This historic hotel is located across from the White House and provides excellent city views, including landmarks like the Washington Monument and St. John’s Church. The Top of the Hay restaurant offers a rooftop setting with a great view.

Few places have a more stunning view of DC than the Hay-Adam . The hotel is at 800 16th Street NW, just across Lafayette Square from the White House. This central location puts guests close to many of Washington, DC’s famous attractions and government buildings.

Monuments/city view

The Morrow Hotel is just steps from the bustling NoMa district and within walking distance of the metro, Union Market, and many museums, monuments, restaurants, and shops. It’s a beautiful hotel and was nominated in the 2024 Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards. The design of this hotel is modern comfort, and it shows!

Some rooms offer views of Union Station and the Capitol, while others show off the NoMa neighborhood. Their rooftop also provides stunning views and is a favorite hidden gem for locals.

Mid-range hotels

City/monuments

Hotel Washington is located near the National Mall and offers views of the Washington Monument and other iconic landmarks. The rooftop bar offers panoramic views of the White House, Washington Monument, and other landmarks. If you look west and squint, you can also make out the eternal flame at Arlington National Cemetery.

Water/landmark view

Overlooking the Potomac River on one side and the Kennedy Center on the other, this upscale-chic, landmark hotel is a mile from the Lincoln Memorial.

The Watergate Hotel is an iconic property with a unique design. The hotel is known for its luxurious amenities and historical significance.

This hotel is situated along the mile-long pier of The Wharf, featuring restaurants, retail, and fun activities on DC’s Potomac River. Rooms offer city views (including the Capitol) or water views along the Wharf. This hotel has one of my favorite rooftop bars in DC – Whiskey Charley. While staying here, you must visit this bar for sunset!
 
This hotel was finished in late 2018, has a modern feel, and has amiable staff. Parking is expensive in this area, but there are restaurants and bars all around it, making it a great spot to stay.

Hotel Zena

City view

Featuring original artwork and exterior murals, this contemporary hotel is set opposite Thomas Circle Park in Downtown. It’s 8 minutes’ walk from McPherson Square metro station.

Polished rooms have Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Upgraded rooms add sitting areas and/or soaking tubs. Suites provide separate living rooms.

They have a seasonal rooftop pool perched high above the city — and the views are incredible. A chic penthouse deck is perfect for a lounging session alongside the pool Spice things up even more with a creative cocktail from Hush Rooftop Bar, an intimate bar setting.

St. Gregory

City view

Designed for the well-versed traveler, The St. Gregory Hotel is ideally situated at the intersection of Dupont Circle, the West End, and Georgetown. Blending elegant design with sophisticated amenities, The St. Gregory Hotel brings a refined hotel experience to one of the most coveted areas of the nation’s capital.

The views from this West End hotel don’t take in the famous sights. Instead, many rooms look out on Northwest DC, an almost European scene with century-old row houses, pockets of trees, and the grandiose, Gothic-style National Cathedral rising beyond.

Homewood Suites by Hilton Washington DC Capitol-Navy Yard

City/monuments view

Located in historic Washington DC, Homewood Suites offers easy access to the Capitol Riverfront, Lincoln Memorial, and Smithsonian Museums. It’s the official Washington Nationals hotel; they provide a convenient location just a block away from Nationals Park.

You’ll enjoy views of the Washington Monument and the city from this hotel. ust half a mile from the Washington Navy Yard and even closer to Nationals Park if you’re in a baseball mood. DC’s world-famous monuments, museums, and restaurants are a short metro trip away — the station is just a three-minute walk. City view

This hotel is close to two of DC’s most iconic neighborhoods, DuPont Circle and Adams Morgan. The Washington Hilton is a large hotel featuring an outdoor courtyard and views of the capital skyline. This Washington, DC, hotel is just 1.6 mi from the White House. A full restaurant and bar are available.

The pool here has a great view and is known as the perfect spot to relax on your vacation while enjoying a view of the Washington Monument. The District Line Restaurant at the Hilton serves handmade cocktails and local American specialties. A buffet breakfast is served at the restaurant daily.

Hampton Inn & Suites Washington DC — Navy Yard

National Stadium/city view

Located next to Nationals Park and one block from the Navy Yard metro station, this hotel puts you within two miles of central Washington, DC. The Capitol Riverfront district is less than a half mile from the hotel, and Capitol Hill is one mile away.

Enjoy ballpark views at their seasonal rooftop restaurant and bar. Upgraded rooms add views of Nationals Park, while suites offer wet bars and sitting areas. Some suites have pull-out sofas.
